What are your hours of operation?

Monday to Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Friday to Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

What should I bring with me to my appointment?

We provide shampoo, conditioner, soap, towels, hair dryers and bathrobes for clients taking showers with us. Earplugs, vaseline (in case of irritation of skin contact with the float pod’s Epsom salt water may sting a little). Hair dryers.Products you should bring: Styling products, contact lens solution and container, bathing cap if you need one.

Can you eat at Ovarium?

You are welcome to bring a small snack if you so desire.

What is the origin of the name Ovarium?

The name Ovarium was inspired by our original ovum-shaped floatation tanks which are still in use today.

Is the water in the floatation tanks changed between each client?
After each floatation session, a water treatment procedure that is equivalent to a three hour standard swimming pool treatment is performed. In addition to the filtration process, our water is purified using hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). Finally, to augment the purification effects of the peroxide, the water is treated with ultraviolet light during the filtration process. Water analysis is undertaken daily in order to optimize water quality. Water and bath hygiene procedures are done in between each client.

What is Epsom Salt and what are its benefits?

Epsom salts are a magnesium sulfate compound. There are over 2000 cups of Epsom salt in each floatation tank which helps you to float effortlessly! The salt also makes the water silky and doesn’t dry the skin out like sea salt does.
Although the research isn’t conclusive, many benefits have been attributed to the use of Epsom salt in baths: it is very soothing and helps to relax muscular tension and decrease inflammation

Is there iodine found in the floatation tanks?
Epsom salt does not contain iodine. It is therefore perfectly safe for those with iodine allergies.
Are there any contraindications (allergies or otherwise) to using the floatation tanks?
There are no contraindications to using the floatation tank, however, irritated skin or wounds can be more sensitive to Epsom salt. It is thus recommended that you don’t float if you have a major wound or rash or if you’ve recently received a piercing or tattoo. In the case of very minor irritations or wounds, the application of petroleum jelly will serve as a protective barrier and allow you to float comfortably. We use hydrogen peroxide in the water purification process. If you are allergic to hydrogen peroxide, it is not recommended to use our floatation tanks.
If I have freshly colour-treated hair will it be affected by the floatation bath?
To find out if you can float without affecting your hair colour, try this test at home. Take a shower and look at the colour of the runoff water. If it’s clear, you can float! If it’s not, then wait until you’ve washed your hair a few more times first.
I have a new tattoo. Can I still float?
Floating is not recommended immediately after receiving a new tattoo. The skin in the tattooed area is very sensitive and may sting if in contact with the Epsom salt solution. In addition, the colour of the new tattoo may be diluted. We recommend waiting 4 to 6 weeks after any tattooing before using our floatation tanks. Better yet, ask your tattoo artist!
I have a new piercing. Can I still float?
Floating is not recommended immediately after receiving a new piercing. The area surrounding a new piercing is very sensitive and may sting if in contact with the Epsom salt solution. We recommend that you ask your piercing artist when they think you will be able use our floatation tanks.
Do very tall people have enough space in your float tanks?
To answer this question, here are the interior measurements of our float tanks: 2,19 m x 1,31 m or 7’ 2’’ x 4’ 3’’.
Are your massage therapists professionally trained and licensed?
All of our massage therapists have received professional training and belong to a professional licensing organization.
Do you have to remove all of your clothing for your treatment?
Floatation tanks: We strongly recommend that you float without a bathing suit. This will give a greater sense of freedom while floating. Also, you will be alone in the room. Massage: As you will be covered by a sheet, you may choose to remove or keep your undergarments. Facial treatments: You will be covered with a sheet throughout your treatment. We recommend that you remove your clothing for greater comfort. PSiO and NeuroSpa: You remain dressed for both of these treatments.
Is PSiO dangerous for your eyes?
No. The lights used in the glasses are LED which are less intense than regular lightbulbs and considered safe for your eyes. You can even keep your eyes open during your session! We do however, recommend that you keep your eyes closed for a more relaxing experience. Please note that the brightness can be adjusted according to your needs.
I’ve heard that PSiO’s pulsating lights can cause seizures. How do I know if I’m at risk?
It is very important to let us know if you have epilepsy or a history of seizures. You will still be able to experience the PSiO but with continuous lighting rather than pulsating lighting. There is a small percentage of people who aren’t aware of having a seizure disorder (around 1 in 20 000). For those people, there is a small risk of feeling uneasy from the strobe-like pulsating lights. Simply removing the glasses will remedy this.

Do you recommend a particular order for the treatment sessions?
Our treatments are complementary and combine well in any order. Experiment and choose which order you’d like! What we can say is, that the first treatment will amplify the wellness effects of all the others. One other note: as the PSiO helps with “letting go”, it is a great precursor to all the other treatments.
Floatation bath or massage first?
Float before your massage: in the floatation tank, your body and your senses are put on hold. The ensuing state of deep relaxation is a wonderful break for the nervous system. Follow this with a massage and your body experiences an awakening of the senses in the hands of an expertly orchestrated massage accompanied by a specially curated soundtrack. Float after your massage: after a massage, floating heightens your sense of awareness and harmonizes the wellness effects of massage therapy. The sensory deprivation experience of the floatation tank also allows you to indulge in this awareness without interruption.
I am pregnant. Am I allowed to be massaged or to float?

Yes! Massage therapy, floatation baths and the PSiO allow the expecting mother to enjoy her pregnancy even further and help her to prepare for childbirth through relaxation, visualization, and deep rest. These three treatments, chosen for their uniqueness as well as their efficacy, are excellent companions to alternative medicine and other childbirth and labour relaxation techniques (naturopathy, acupuncture, hypnosis and other non-pharmaceutical pain-control methods).

How many CelluM6 facial treatments (Endermolift) are needed to see results?

Results are visible from the first treatment on: your skin becomes velvety and radiant! To obtain deeper and more corrective results, the treatment should be repeated. In general, we recommend 2 treatments per week for 4 weeks to maintain the desired outcome. CelluM6 is a gentle and effective cellular stimulation and anti-aging treatment. It helps to activate collagen and elastin synthesis while helping with cellular renewal. This repetitive stimulation helps the skin to appear healthy and toned. The anti-aging and cellular stimulation of the Cellu M6 may be considered part of a healthy lifestyle like going to the gym to stay in shape. A radiant, youthful glow results from this very effective and non-invasive technique which prevents premature aging of the cells. The frequency of treatment sessions is directly linked to your needs and objectives. The CelluM6 addresses both esthetic and therapeutic aspects (drainage, wrinkle-smoothing, skin-firming, oxygenating, plumpening). We recommend that you make an appointment with us to learn more. Our Discover/Evaluate session allows you to explore this unique treatment with the help of one of our specially trained technicians.

Does the CelluM6 minimize the appearance of facial pores?

The CelluM6 Endermolift treatment helps to reduce the appearance of dilated facial pores by stimulating collagen production. If your main objective is to reduce the appearance of your pores then we recommend that you try a different treatment that was created specifically for this such as microdermabrasion.
